Luckily, PowerPoint on both platforms will embed audio files by default, unless you choose to change the settings (within the Record Narration dialog box) linking the audio file instead.
If you need to move a sound file recorded in PowerPoint for Mac to a Windows machine, embed the audio file as part of the presentation. Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows does not have a clue about what these files are! PowerPoint for Windows cannot play back any linked narrations and sound recorded in Macintosh versions since Apple computers use the QuickTime AIFF format to store the recordings, and also does not include the AIFF file extension. Keep things simple – and use PowerPoint’s drawing tools to create shapes and drawings rather than using content from a third party application. What this means is if you insert Flash movies (such as those from YouTube) into a presentation using PowerPoint for Windows, the Flash files will not play on the Mac. ActiveX is a Microsoft technology and is not available on the Mac platform. ActiveX is the same Windows-based technology that allows you to play Adobe Flash and Director movies inside Internet Explorer and other applications, including PowerPoint. The major classrooms and Auditorium at the Upjohn campus contain Mac computers. The Media Room and most conference rooms at the Oakland Drive Campus and Borgess Psych department contain Windows PCs. Most rooms contain both an HDMI and VGA input but some may only contain one. A presenter should check over their presentation ahead of time to ensure everything should work properly, especially when using the room provided equipment. It is suggested that a presenter use their own device whenever possible. 
If you go in to the folder “ppt” you will find a folder “media”.Posted by, Last modified by on 11 August 2016 03:47 PM Now you should see 3 folders in finder (docProps, _rels and ppt) and an additional file (.xml). If that doesn’t work, rename the presentation.pptx to presentation.zip and try the above procedure, of course with the correct file name!
Unzip the file (my filename is presentation.pptx). Go to the folder where the file is located, in my case Desktop/test. 
To open Terminal, go to Applications > Utilities > Terminal. If simply double clicking after renaming doesn’t work, try the following procedure: MAKE A POWER POINT FOR MAC INTO A MOVIE WITH SOUND ZIP
Which I then would try to unzip but again would lead to a zip file.

I tried that, but my zip file then got unzipped to a zip.cpgz file. Well according to the sources found on google it is simple, you rename the Powerpoint.

Latest versions of Powerpoint for Mac OSX don’t have the option to copy/paste the file somewhere else, there’s also no “right click save as” option unfortunately. I needed the source file but unfortunately the person who developed the demo video did not have it any longer. I received a couple of presentations over the past weeks which had an embedded video file in it, but needless to say this article will handle all types of embedded files.
